The First Docket

Freshmen Interview

Welcome to Skyline’s Law Review Blog! My name is Valeria, and I recently had the opportunity to interview the freshmen in Principles of Law. These students are already making an impressive start to the school year, participating in after-school activities such as HOSA to build their resumes and explore career opportunities. In class, they are currently learning courtroom procedures, and many have already expressed interest in joining the Mock Trial team.

From our conversation, it’s clear that the freshmen have built a strong sense of teamwork, communication, and determination. They are most excited to begin courtroom practice, whether as lawyers or witnesses. Recently, they attended a field trip to a downtown courthouse, which gave them a first-hand look at the legal system in action.

During the visit, they had the chance to meet bailiffs and lawyers, learn the steps to becoming a lawyer or judge, and observe real courtroom proceedings. The students agreed that their favorite part of the field trip was meeting new people and experiencing live court cases—it was both fun and educational.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates from Skyline’s Law Review Blog!
